Learn Guitar for Beginners

by Chris on May 31, 2010

Are you interested in trying to learn guitar, and how to play it well enough that you will want to play for others? It is loads of fun to learn guitar, especially when you have had the training to be really good at it. It is not easy, or recommended, to try and teach yourself how to play the guitar, or any other musical instrument for that matter. It is so much easier if you have some sort of guide who can show you exactly how to play notes, chords, scales, and more. That way you can see exactly what you are doing right or wrong, making the learning process so much easier than if you were teaching yourself.

Don’t Try to Teach Yourself

If you really want to try to teach yourself, there are all kinds of books out there that will guarantee that you will be an awesome guitar player in just a few days. Don’t waste your money on these books. In fact, even the best books can be confusing to the beginner, so don’t bother with any books, at least until you have an idea of how to play, at least a little bit. But, once you have learned to play guitar for a bit, these books can be a great reference, and you may want to have one or two around. Find yourself a guitar instructor who can show you how to play properly, and then use the books to help you progress from beginner to expert.

Find a Good Instructor

What you really need in order to learn guitar is a good instructor. It is usually pretty easy to find one. Many advertise in newspapers and online, and, you can probably find bulletin boards, especially in music-oriented establishments, with ads offering guitar lessons. But, if you do not have access to a guitar instructor, don’t worry. You actually do, but you just haven’t looked in the right place yet.

Did you know that there are some really awesome online guitar lessons available on the Internet? Websites such as Guitar Tricks and JamPlay offer the best guitar lessons you will find anywhere, and they are taught by some of the best musicians anywhere. And, you can rewind the easy-to-use video lessons as many times as you want until you have the material down, without causing your instructor to lose patience with you. There are also chat rooms, where you will be able to actually talk to your instructors, and ask them questions.

What You Will Find on the Internet
