Guitar Course Reviews

Wish You Could Learn Guitar?

Hi, my name is Chris and I’ve been learning to play guitar for the past several years now. My first attempt to learn guitar was by signing up for private guitar lessons with a teacher. But I quit after two weeks because it was too expensive and the schedule was too rigid.

Instead, I decided to look online and try my luck with some guitar courses I found there. While, I came across my share of lousy guitar courses that taught me absolutely nothing, I did find a several guitar courses that were really good. These courses offered high quality guitar lessons and were extremely affordable!

Below is a head to head comparison of the four guitar courses that I would recommend to anyone trying to learn guitar.

Learn and Master Guitar Review

Learn and Master Guitar is one of the best selling DVD guitar courses of all time. Taught by renowned instructor Steve Krenz, you will finally start to learn how to play the guitar the right way. In this box set you will receive 20 DVDs, 5 Jam-Along CDs, and a 100 page illustrated workbook. Steve has a very fluid teaching style and following him as he demonstrates the various guitar techniques is very easy. And if you happen to miss something? Just go back and watch it again.

Below are some of my favorite parts of the Learn and Master Guitar course:

  • The 5 Jam Along CDs are super-fun to play with, and it’s an awesome way to practice your guitar skills without being bored
  • The course is superb for beginners, but more advanced guitar players can skip to the later sections and benefit from this course as well.
  • It covers all the popular genres and music styles so can learn to play what you’re most interested in
  • Pop in the DVDs and practice front of your big screen TV or just play in front of your computer. Learn and Master Guitar provides the ultimate flexibility in learning to play guitar
  • For a $249 $149 one time fee, this course is MUCH cheaper than private guitar lessons.

The only thing I didn’t like about the course is that I had to wait a week to get my hands on it. Other than that, I highly recommend Learn and Master Guitar as it is hands-down the best DVD guitar course available. Visit the Learn and Master Guitar Website

Guitar Tricks Review

After finishing up the Learn and Master Guitar course, I decided to look for some online guitar courses to learn some new things. I found a couple I liked, but my favorite most definitely is Guitar Tricks. They have been around for a long time now and have amassed a huge collection of video guitar lessons covering every style and technique you can imagine. You will also get to choose from a variety of guitar instructors, so you can pick the ones that fit your learning style.

Here are some of the favorite things I like most about Guitar Tricks:

  • Comprehensive Guitar Tricks lesson plan which gives beginners the structured instruction they need.
  • Easily searchable lessons. Although Guitar Tricks has thousands of available video guitar lessons, it’s surprisingly easy to find exactly what you want.
  • Jam Station – One of my favorite tools. Play over 150 tracks with a backing band. Great practice!
  • 24 FREE guitar lessons. Try out Guitar Tricks for free and make sure it works for you.
  • Only $14.95 a month. That’s amazingly good value for what the site offers.

The only thing they don’t have are the excellent daily live webcasts that JamPlay offers. Still, Guitar Tricks provides some fantastic value, and it’s a really fun way to learn guitar online. Visit the GuitarTricks website
